I pay £460 per week rent for a 2 bedroomed tiny Barratt Homes type terraced effort. Despite being no more that 20 years old, it has no central heating. In the winter the house was freezing and we swore (The wife and me) not to be living in it next winter.
It is situated in the town of Newent on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean. 9 miles from my work, 7.5 miles from Linda's work, 12 Miles from Gloucester, 18 miles from Lydney, 115 miles from Hertford, 190 miles from Diss and about the same from Sunderland.
On the face of it Newent is a pituresque town in the countryside, overlooked by the spectacular May Hill. However, though I've no doubt that the majority of inhabitants are nice, it only takes a few inbreds to spoil a place. I suspect it was such inbreds who vandalised my 6 month old Skoda by scratching a key down both sides (BOTH sides, mind you) and my wife's slightly older Fiat Seicento. Such actions have made us anxious to leave Newent tout de suite.
The two good things about Newent are; the roads out of it, which lead to nice countryside, great for running; and Marinades restaurant - delicious carribean and meditteranean dishes - completely out of character with the surroundings http://www.marinades.co.uk/ .
