Surely, the Teletubbies should do the Iraq war, the wonderful Chuckle Brothers can do the bank stuff, and Gary Lineker... I can see no earthly use for him.
I can't be bothered to analyse why Clarkson makes me laugh, but he does, at the BBC, in newspapers, and now, by proxy, stage shows in Australia. more…

I thought it was to make clear he wasn't talking about one of the two- or four- eyed Englsih idiots who share the blame for the depths to which we have sunk. Some people overseas might even still think Tony Blair or John Major is in charge. :) more…

Ah yes, the age old 'is a hyphenated word really two words' debate. Shall we leave that for another day?
However I'm glad you raised the other issues: By including the word 'Scottish' in the phrase, there is an obvious inference that to be Scottish is a bad thing. If that wasn't the case then he would have not used 'Scottish' at all more…

One-eyed Scottish idiot? Isn't that four words?
Anyway, he is Scottish, so how it can be an insult to say he is is a tricky one to explain.
And he is an idiot. PFI deals were his idea, and they have wasted an incredible amount of our money. more…

I think most of us are in favour of freedom of speech, but there is no guarantee of an audience. Personally, I think Clarkson is a racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted, hypocritical idiot and shouldn't be employed by the BBC, but then that's just me using my freedom of speech.
Tom. more…

Hey, you should just throw yourself into it. They said I couldn't use a circular saw when I once started a job, and although they were right, I think they appreciated my effort.
But they were right, an accountant has no place bringing a circular saw to work. more…

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't have access to books written in English at the moment, but I have flagged the email with your comment. You don't by any chance know if it mentions why a human's bodyclock is longer than 24hours do you? May I recommend the same author's "The Blind Watchmaker"? Whilst not being so overtly athiest, it does deal with the nuts and bolts of evolution in a way that should convince most open minded people. more…

Yes Religion is a difference that divides us, but I think they sincerely are there as an attempt to unite us and transend all our physical human worries. But religions are human and as such get caught up in all our usual vices.
In the same way governments are our own creation that has very good intentions but whose nature is often brutal and more…

Nicely argued points there.
I agree with you that wars are generally started over things other than religion but to get a good war going you need differences. Religion is usually the difference that politicians use to divide us.
Wheras leaders may not be doing it for God, I would say that most soldiers throughout the ce more…

Hey, may I start this comment by saying that all my questions are asked in the tone of innocent naivity, and not rhetorical arrogance, so if you have answers to any or all of them, please let me know. Also, in that same thought, I'm not trying to change what people think/believe, just ask some questions.
Firstly, doesn't the Bible addr more…

For the sake of clarity, I'd like to point out that the above posting is an attempt at humour. Shooting people is wrong in all cases except self defence.
I'm sure the journalists involved were only following orders; it is their editor who should be punished. Perhaps with a public boot up the arse.

I read a couple of pages of the book and read reviews and they all said the same; that he wasn't saying anything new and that he was preaching to the choir ('scuse the analogy).
However:
